I have been meaning to post about Teextile for the last couple of weeks, I heard of them just before they launched and have kept an eye on them ever since. But now with the launch of their Buddy System (more on that later) I have no excuse to not promote them.

Teextile is one of the latest sites to have a one shirt per day set up, similar to Shirt Woot or Tee Fury. Designs are sourced from user submitted/voted entries and the designer gets $4 for each t-shirt sold, well at least for the first 500 shirts sold, the commission dips slightly after that. The designs that have been chosen to be printed are shown in advance, and you can see, from the timer on the front page, exactly when the next shirt will be available. Which is nice if you want to try and grab a freebie, as the first person to buy a particular shirt once it becomes available, gets it for FREE!

New Seibei Designs!!!

Yes, that really did warrant 3 exclamation marks. The new spring 2009 range over at Seibei is available now and is definitely worth checking out. Starting off with the taco incarnation of one of my all time favorite tees, the sandwich dinosaur. Not bad for something originally done as a goof eh? Believe it or not some dude got the taco dinosaur inked as a tattoo after David drew up the original sketch just for fun.

The new collection consists of 5 awesome new designs, including a collaboration with Jimmy Heartcore; I’ll Never Stop Pooping, and the first ever text based tee over at Seibei; La Mutant Rouge, which is actually based on a shirt a character in another design was wearing.

They’ve clearly come a long way for clothing line born from the idea of starting a t-shirt line with a strong focus on poultry, it’s true, read their Blog if you don’t believe me. Stabb certainly looks like one to watch.

Based in Montreal, Akumu screen print all their shirts themselves, to order, so you know you are getting a true indie product, just the way I like it. Their designs tend to be bold shirt fillers, which really shows off the detail in the dark artwork of Akumu Ink.

Their current series, MortaliTee, focuses on death and the skull as iconography. Yeah I thought it sounded pretty depressing too, but some of the characters, like Lil Vampy, are so cute, that you will soon forget about all the death and such.

They just updated the website too, the swanky new version being easier to navigate I have to say. Which gives me all the more reason to encourage you to go check them out and don’t forget about their cool blog too.

It seems Prooby 5’s mission is to pick out some of the losers from tee design competition’s like Threadless and Shirt.Woot and print them themselves. Giving the artists a commission on each shirt sold. If they keep picking up awesome designs like this one then they could be on the right track.
